The Cayman Islands have been named the second-best islands in the Caribbean and Atlantic in Condé Nast Traveller's 2026 Readers' Choice Awards, achieving an impressive score of 98.03.

How Are The Readers' Choice Awards Decided?

Unlike a ranking selected solely by travel editors, the Condé Nast Traveller Readers' Choice Awards are based on the experiences and ratings of readers.

The 2026 awards mark the publication's 29th edition, with results drawn from its UK readership. According to the publication's official awards methodology, voting took place between 1 April and 30 June 2026.

Respondents rated destinations using a five-point scale, with the results converted into percentage scores. Candidates also had to meet minimum response and rating requirements to qualify.

That makes the Cayman Islands' score of 98.03 particularly noteworthy: it reflects the assessments of participating travellers rather than a promotional claim made by a destination or business.

What Makes The Cayman Islands So Special?

The Cayman Islands are often associated with turquoise water, white-sand beaches and warm Caribbean weather. But there is much more to discover across the three islands.

Each island has its own character, offering different landscapes, attractions and ways to experience Caymanian life.

Grand Cayman: Beaches, Culture & Experiences

Grand Cayman is the largest and most developed of the three islands, home to the internationally recognised Seven Mile Beach, the capital George Town and many of Cayman's best-known visitor attractions.

Visitors can experience the famous stingrays at Stingray City, explore the shops and restaurants at Camana Bay, or discover the islands' heritage at the Cayman Islands National Museum.

Away from the busier western districts, the island also offers quieter coastal communities, scenic drives and natural attractions such as the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park, which is closely associated with the conservation of Grand Cayman's native blue iguana.

Cayman Brac: Dramatic Landscapes & A Slower Pace

Cayman Brac offers a different perspective on island life. Known for its limestone Bluff, caves, coastal scenery and diving, it appeals to those who enjoy exploring natural landscapes and smaller island communities.

The island's distinctive geography and quieter atmosphere make it an important part of the wider Cayman Islands experience, even though it receives less international attention than Grand Cayman.

Little Cayman: Nature & Tranquillity

Little Cayman is the smallest of the three islands and is particularly well known for its peaceful surroundings, marine environment and diving.

Its quiet roads, natural coastline and unhurried atmosphere provide a striking contrast to the busier parts of Grand Cayman.

Together, Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman offer a varied island experience, from restaurants and watersports to nature, heritage and peaceful coastal settings.

International Recognition For The Cayman Islands

The 2026 ranking has also attracted attention in the local press, with the Cayman Compass reporting on the islands' second-place finish on 23 October 2026.

Recognition from international travel readers helps put the Cayman Islands in the spotlight alongside some of the Caribbean's most established destinations.

For people who have already visited, the ranking may come as little surprise. For those who have yet to explore the islands, it provides another reason to discover what makes Cayman distinctive.
