Airport engineering firm built flexibility into future plan

Artist’s renderings show what Owen Roberts International Airport might look like in the future. Deputy Premier Hon. Moses Kirkconnell said he hopes to see work begin next April or May.

Due to financial constraints, namely the government’s ban on long-term borrowing for public projects, some of the items in the plan are designed to be built only if and when the money were to materialize.

Bernard Schropp, from engineering firm WSP Canada, told a town hall meeting Monday (21 July) that their orders were to design plans that are forward-thinking and flexible.
