The Battle Of The Cayman Islands

The idea behind this podcast episode was simple: after nearly 18 years travelling throughout the Cayman Islands, which island stands out the most for different experiences?

Rather than approaching the discussion from a tourism brochure perspective, the conversation focused on genuine experiences across Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman. The result quickly became clear, there is no single “winner,” because each island offers a completely different atmosphere and lifestyle.

Arriving In The Cayman Islands

One of the most memorable parts of the discussion centred around arriving into Little Cayman. The team described the small aircraft experience as completely different from traditional airports around the world.

Unlike large international terminals, Little Cayman feels personal, quiet, and uniquely Caribbean. As discussed during the podcast, passengers often step directly from the aircraft onto the runway while luggage is unloaded by hand only a few metres away.

Cayman Brac was also highlighted for its friendly arrival experience and welcoming atmosphere, while Grand Cayman was recognised for convenience and improved international infrastructure following airport redevelopment.

Hotels, Airbnbs & Cayman Islands Accommodation

Accommodation became one of the most interesting debates in the episode. Grand Cayman naturally stood out for luxury hotels, serviced apartments, and resort-style experiences, particularly around Seven Mile Beach and Rum Point.

However, the conversation shifted significantly toward the more personal Airbnb experiences available across Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. The team discussed how many visitors return repeatedly to the same properties due to the strong relationships formed with local hosts and property owners.

Unlike many international destinations where accommodation can feel automated or transactional, the Cayman Islands often provides a far more personal and community-driven experience.

The Best Beaches In Cayman

The beach discussion produced some of the strongest opinions during the episode.

Little Cayman’s famous Point Of Sand was described as one of the most beautiful and untouched beaches in the Caribbean, offering crystal-clear water, white sand, and very little commercial development.

Grand Cayman’s Smith Cove also received strong praise due to its relaxed atmosphere, rock formations, swimming areas, and local weddings frequently hosted along the shoreline.

Meanwhile, Cayman Brac’s coastline was appreciated less for traditional sandy beaches and more for its rugged waterfront, docks, diving access, and authentic island atmosphere.

Cayman Islands Food & Restaurants

One point everyone agreed on was the quality of food across all three islands.

The discussion ranged from local seafood restaurants in Cayman Brac through to luxury beachfront dining experiences in Grand Cayman. Several locations were specifically highlighted during the episode, including Coral Isle, Eastern Star Bar, Tillie’s, and various locally owned seafood restaurants throughout the islands.

Fresh seafood, locally caught fish, Caribbean flavours, and outdoor oceanfront dining were recurring themes throughout the conversation.

Why The Cayman Islands Work So Well Together

One of the most interesting conclusions from the episode was that the three Cayman Islands are not really competing with each other at all.

Grand Cayman offers luxury, infrastructure, restaurants, and convenience. Cayman Brac offers adventure, elevation, nature, and local authenticity. Little Cayman delivers privacy, diving, and unspoiled Caribbean scenery.

Together, the islands create a rare balance within the Caribbean — one where visitors and landowners can experience very different lifestyles while remaining under the same stable Cayman Islands legal and regulatory system.
