Here’s a simplified guide:

What Is Permanent Residency in the Cayman Islands?

Permanent residency allows individuals to live in the Cayman Islands indefinitely without the need to renew a visa or work permit. It’s a status that offers stability and access to the islands’ vibrant, tax-free environment.

Residency by Independent Means

This option is ideal if you’re not seeking employment in the Cayman Islands but wish to enjoy the lifestyle.

Requirements:

1.Real Estate Investment:

  • Own developed property worth at least KYD $2,000,000 (USD $2,400,000).
  • One of Oasis’ freehold land lots is the perfect starting point allowing you to develop your perfect property.

2.Financial Independence:

  • Demonstrate the ability to support yourself financially without local employment.

3.Annual Residency Commitment:

  • Spend a minimum of 90 days per year on the islands.

This pathway offers the flexibility to include dependents, such as a spouse and children, in your application, making it a family-friendly option.

Permanent Residency with the Right to Work

For those looking to establish a business or work on the islands, this option provides the necessary flexibility.

Key Points:

  • Points-Based System: Applicants are assessed on factors like income, real estate ownership, community contributions, and professional qualifications.
  • Eligibility Timeline: You must reside in the Cayman Islands for at least 8 consecutive years under a valid work permit.

This pathway ensures access to the local economy while securing your residency status.

Residency Certificate for Persons of Independent Means

For long-term but non-permanent residency, this certificate is a renewable 25-year option.

Requirements:

  • Annual Income: At least KYD $120,000 (USD $146,000) from sources outside the Cayman Islands.
  • Real Estate Investment: Minimum KYD $1,000,000 (USD $1,200,000), of which CI$500,000 must be in developed real estate.
  • Annual Presence: Spend at least 30 days per year in the Cayman Islands.
